Businesses in Doncaster have enjoyed an estimated £15 million boost thanks to a record St Leger Festival Week.
The extended 10-day festival – now in its fourth year – was bigger and better than ever with more than 300 separate events.
Doncaster Racecourse had more than 60,000 attendees over the week – up from 58,000 in 2012 – while the Mallard locomotive’s special visit to Doncaster Carr attracted more than 2,500 visitors over the weekend.
All of the main hotels in the borough were fully booked over the Leger weekend, while the opening weekend of Cast attracted more than 6,000 people.
Mayor Ros Jones said: “I am delighted to see Doncaster’s profile as a visitor destination growing.”
