Bus drivers slay Monster to aid charity
INTREPID colleagues from South Yorkshire's biggest bus firm took on a gruelling challenge in the Scottish Highlands to raise money for charity.
Kevin Wild and Frazer Foster, both bus drivers for First in Rotherham, plus Chris Foster, a bus driver in Sheffield, and Kevin Rains, a bus inspector in Sheffield, took on 275 teams in a 120km duathlon around the shores of Loch Ness.
The First Monster Challenge - sponsored by their company - involved 275 teams from across the UK who completed a run and bike ride.
Each of the team mates took on two gruelling legs of the eight-legged event, one 10km run and one 20km bike ride.
The South Yorkshire team took seven hours and 54 minutes, finishing in 141st place.
Kevin said: "The event was fantastic. We are so pleased to have made the effort to get to Inverness and take on the Monster. Although we didn't spot Nessie, we made plenty of new friends and raised money for charity. We aim to be back next year."
Frazer added: "We are still buzzing. My personal highlight was overtaking Nell McAndrew on one of the running legs!"
The First Monster Challenge, which has been officially accredited by the British Triathlon Foundation, aims to raise money for First Group's nominated charity, Save the Children.
