Improvements to South Yorkshire’s public transport were given the thumbs-up at industry awards.
The newly-formed Sheffield Bus Partnership, which links operators in the city, was crowned the winner of the Making Buses a Better Choice award.
The runner-up in the same category was Stagecoach, recognised for its improvements to Supertram links.
Operators behind the bus partnership were also crowned winners of the Local Authority Project of the Year to make travel in the city simpler, more flexible and convenient.
The recognition comes just over a year after First South Yorkshire, Sheffield Community Transport, Sheffield Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive formed the conglomerate.
Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “The awards are considered as the UK’s premier, so we are delighted to have been recognised.
“The Sheffield Bus Partnership is a huge success story. It has helped reduce congestion and duplication on key bus routes and significantly improved punctuality and reliability.”
