MOTORISTS using bus lanes illegally on two busy Sheffield roads will face £60 fines if they are caught on camera flouting the restrictions.

Sheffield Council is launching CCTV enforcement from Monday covering bus lanes on Queens Road and Granville Road, which operate between 7.30am and 9am and 4pm and 6.30pm.

Cameras have been in place since November and offenders have been issued with warning notices – to give them time to change their behaviour.

Sheffield Council parking services manager Kevan Butt said: “Please think before you drive along the bus lanes on Queens Road or Granville Road as the lanes will be enforced from 7.30am to 9am and 4pm to 6.30pm on Monday to Fridays.

Anyone observed using these bus lanes at these times will receive a Penalty Charge Notice of £60.”

Only buses, motorcycles, cyclists and emergency vehicles can use the bus lanes during times of operation and cameras will catch those breaching the rules.
