SOUTH Yorkshire is to receive some of 464 buses ordered by operator First in a £76 million investment.

The company has spent £240 million on new vehicles in the last three years.

Giles Fearnley, managing director of First’s UK bus division, said: “We are committed to growing our business and encouraging more people to use our services.

“This is enabling us to make a step change in the quality of service that we offer.

“The buses will provide the greatest flexibility for those customers using wheelchairs and pushchairs.

“Fitting Wi-Fi as standard is also increasingly important for our customers and all the vehicles will have leather or e-leather seating. We are determined to be at the forefront of service across the industry.”
