Barnsley’s bus routes are set for a number of changes following a host of customer requests.

Alterations to timetables and stops will be introduced in the town and Dearne Valley area from Saturday, October 26.

Operator Stagecoach Yorkshire say the changes on seven of its key routes will improve services for passengers after a public consultation.

On service X19 from Barnsley to Doncaster and Robin Hood Airport, an additional stop will be made on Doncaster Road in Goldthorpe.

The route of the 26 Barnsley, Grimethorpe, Wombwell and Brampton bus will be changed in Darfield to improve connections.

In Bolton-on-Dearne, Stagecoach is also changing the route on both service 217 and 218.

The 217 will now run from Canderra Rise, along Carr Head Lane and Thurnscoe Road to Highgate Lane, while the 218 will operate from Canderra Rise, along Billingley View and Carr Field Lane to Prospect Road.

Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We are always looking at ways to improve our network for the benefit of passengers.

“It’s fantastic when our customers provide feedback about journeys and, where possible, we use this to shape services and routes for the future.

“The changes have come about as a result of passenger feedback and we hope they will further improve waiting and journey times.”
