Bus and railway staff to be axed

ENQUIRIES staff are being axed at a bus station, and opening hours at a rail station ticket office are being reduced, as part of transport budget cuts.

From April 1, staffing at Woodhouse railway station in Sheffield will be reduced to cover 7am to 10am, and 3pm to 6pm, on Mondays to Fridays, but the waiting room will be open 7am to 6pm.

Also from April 1, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive has announced it is withdrawing staff from the bus station at Mexborough after a ‘substantial fall in ticket sales and customers requesting information’.

The operation of the bus station will continue unaffected and the accessible toilet facility will continue to be cleaned on a daily basis.

Customers wishing to buy Travelmaster tickets or wanting information relating to timetables, journey planning and travel passes will have to use facilities at either Rotherham Interchange or Doncaster Frenchgate.
