AN INQUEST into the death of a young Sheffield woman who was tragically killed at a South Yorkshire railway station last week has been adjourned for further investigations to be carried out.

Bille-Jane Coulton, aged 27, suffered fatal injuries when she was hit by an empty passenger train passing through the platforms of Mexborough Railway Station near Doncaster in the early hours of Thursday, January 26.

Ms Coulton was certified dead at the scene by paramedics.

Her body was identified later the same day at Doncaster Royal Infirmary by her mother, Wendy Allen.

The inquest heard Ms Coulton, who lived in Loxley Court, Parson Cross, Sheffield, was with her boyfriend at the time of the tragedy.

British Transport Police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Two men arrested at the scene were later freed without charge.

Further investigations, including toxicology tests, will now be carried out.

Assistant coroner Teresa Searle adjourned the hearing to a later date to be fixed, and released Ms Coulton’s body to her mother Mrs Allen with a burial certificate for her daughter.
