A woman was threatened with a piece of broken glass during a burglary in Sheffield.

She was in her home in Stannington Road, Stannington, when a man broke in armed with a piece of broken glass.

The woman, aged in her 30s, ran to a neighbour's house to raise the alarm and police officers were called.

An E-fit has been released by South Yorkshire Police in a bid to identify the culprit.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police investigating the reported burglary of a property in the Stannington area of Sheffield have issued an E-fit image of a suspect they would like to trace.

"At around 11.05am on Friday, August 5, it is reported that an unknown man entered a property near to Stannington Road, Stannington, and threatened the occupant with a piece of broken glass.

"The occupant, a woman in her 30s, ran to a neighbour’s house to raise the alarm and police were called.

"Upon officer arrival, the man was not in the property and it is thought that nothing was taken.

"The victim has been left shaken and distressed by the incident and police want to hear from anyone who recognises the man.

"Do you know who this man is? Did you witness any suspicious activity in the local area."
