a TEENAGER who stole another boy’s mobile phone and then smashed it has been made to pick up litter as his punishment.
The 13-year-old took the other boy’s phone and threw it against a wall after the pair had an argument.
Officers from Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Team spoke to the teenager who admitted criminal damage.
After speaking to the victim, it was decided the boy, also from Clowne, would be punished under the ‘restorative justice’ scheme, which avoids court action.
He helped with clean ups at local churches that had suffered water damage due to burst pipes and carried out two litter picks.
Pc Tanya Morton, of Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Hopefully this young lad will have learned his lesson and by giving something back to the community.”
