A QUEEN’S Diamond Jubilee-themed mannequin, dressed as a Winston Churchill bulldog, was stolen from a fancy dress shop in Sheffield.
Officers used pepper spray to arrest two men after the 6ft model was pinched from Party Town on Ecclesall Road.
Shop assistant Kath Jewitt said: “I was serving a customer when somebody shouted, ‘They’ve taken your dog’.
“I raced to the door to see Churchill’s head disappear down the road.
“Luckily the police were just coming up Ecclesall Road. It took three policemen to get one of the men to the ground. It was a bit of a surprise - there were two of them and they were intent on having Churchill.”
Shop owner Peter Tooley said: “The police took Winston away as evidence but we’ve got him back now. He’s lost a leg and he looks like a war veteran but we’re going to put him back together.”
Kath added: “He was part of our Jubilee display.’’
n Two men, aged 44 and 40, both from Sheffield, have been charged - one with harassment and one with harassment, theft and damage.
