Bull's run ended by moo-ving
LOVE conquers all things - including rampaging bulls.
And that certainly proved the case at Hope Show, when a two tonne slab of beef decided to go walkabout.
The bull was being unloaded in the show tent when he bolted, dragging a red-faced woman farmer to the floor.
Outside, in the show ring, he charged at a group of men trying to catch him.
From there he rampaged through the show ground narrowly missing a herd of Stags, Triumph Stags that is, as they made their way to the vintage car ring.
The bad-tempered bull then made his way into the car park where he was cornered by a group of officials.
But try as they might this group from Hope hadn't a hope in hell of catching him.
They chased him, he chased them and so it went on for a good half-hour.
Until the lady farmer appeared… leading a rather attractive looking cow.
The not so little lady mooed her intent, winked and the bull calmly followed her back to the show tent.
Five minutes later he was being washed and groomed with a butter-wouldn't-melt look on his face.
Across the tent Harold and Pat Crapper of Cross Birches Farm, Coal Aston looked on in amusement as they prepared their two Holstein cows, Breeze and Geri.
"I called her Geri after Geri Helliwell," said Harold. "They're quite similar except my Geri has got bigger boobs."
He prepared the cow in such a loving way you could say Geri was the other woman in his life.
But Pat isn't having any of that.
"She's the only woman in his life," she snapped.
Hope Show will never be as big as Bakewell or Chatsworth - but with sheep dog trials, cows, sheep, horse riding, vintage cars and stalls a plenty there's plenty to do.
