POLICE are seeking witnesses who may have seen cable thieves who cut off a Doncaster village’s phone network.
A large quantity of BT cable was stolen overnight on May 26-27 from underground and from a street box on Station Road, between Bentley and Arksey, near the railway level crossing.
Nobody has been arrested yet and police are continuing to investigate.
Chief Inspector Ian Bint said: “The true victims are the public who have to go without services and ultimately pay more for them.
“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or have any information about metal or cable thefts across Doncaster, to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
