SHEFFIELD members of a Muslim minority group have condemned an attack on followers of the branch of the religion in Indonesia – leaving four people dead.

A mob of between 700 and 1,000 was responsible for the violence against Ahmadiyya Muslims in Cikeusik, south of Banten.

Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, members of which worship at a mosque on Sussex Street, in Sheffield, said: “This horrific attack has caused grief and pain to all Ahmadi Muslims worldwide and indeed to all peace loving people.

“The barbarity of the perpetrators knows no bounds; indeed people watching the merciless beatings were clapping and cheering.”
