DELAYED work to replace a weak bridge over a main rail line in Sheffield is now progressing well – with the road set to partially open next Wednesday.
The £1.7 million scheme for Woodseats Road was due to have been completed between Christmas and New Year.
However, high winds meant only half of the bridge could be lifted into place. But calmer weather over the weekend meant the second section could finally be installed.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “We are working to complete the bridge and reopen one lane of traffic by January 18. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The bridge is due to be finished by the end of the month.
Sheffield Council is hoping to complete work on a second closed route, Glossop Road, Broomhill, by Monday.
