A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 19-year-old man was found with fatal wounds in a Sheffield street.

The victim was discovered by passersby on Holgate Avenue, Parson Cross, at 12.30am today. He was rushed to the Northern General hospital in an ambulance but died of his injuries about an hour later. He has not yet been formally identified.

Police have arrested two men and a juvenile on suspicion of murder. They are being held a police stations in Sheffield this morning.

Detectives believe the man may have attended a function at the White Horse pub on Halifax Road on Friday evening before leaving at 11pm.

He is thought to have been making his way home towards the Ecclesfield area when he was attacked.

A forensic post mortem to establish cause of death is being held this morning.
