Staff at Sheffield’s five household waste recycling centres are to go on strike next week, it has been confirmed today.
Union GMB said 90 per cent of workers employed by The Green Company had voted in favour of industrial action.
Peter Davies, regional GMB officer covering Sheffield, said the action was over ‘conditions, pay and bullying’ and that strikes ‘will commence next week’ in a post on Twitter.
The Green Company, formerly known as SOVA Recycling Ltd, is sub-contracted to run the five waste recycling centres in partnership with Sheffield Council and Veolia.
They are at Woodhouse, Gleadless, Deepcar, High Green and Shirecliffe.
The Green Company has not yet responded to requests for comment.
