The 31-year-old, who won heptathlon gold at the 2012 London Olympics, announced on Twitter that she and husband Andy Hill are expecting a baby. They already have a son, Reggie, aged two.
Dame Jessica, who lives in Millhouses, said: "Someone's going to be a big brother. Another little Ennis-Hill on the way. So happy."
She was flooded with congratulations.
