POLICE are hunting the driver of a car involved in a collision with a 12-year-old boy in Rotherham.

The woman motorist was driving along Tickhill Road, Maltby, when the boy ran into the road, leaving him needing stitches to his ear.

Police said the woman stopped to check how the boy was before driving away.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It is believed that the 12-year-old boy from Maltby ran into the road and collided with the vehicle.

“The driver of the vehicle stopped to check on the boy before leaving the scene.

“South Yorkshire Police would like the woman involved to come forward to assist with enquiries. South Yorkshire Police are also appealing for witnesses including the driver of a vehicle who is believed to have been following the vehicle involved shortly before the collision.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident at 7.30pm on Saturday should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
