A MAN was seriously injured when he was hit by a car as he attempted to cross a road in South Yorkshire.

The 37-year-old was attempting to cross the central reservation of the A630 Balby Road, Doncaster, when a green Volvo struck him near to the junction with St Johns Road at 4.25pm yesterday.

The Volvo, driven by a 34-year-old Doncaster man, was travelling towards the town centre at the time of the collision.

Police said the injured pedestrian broke a leg and arm and suffered serious cuts to his head.

He is being treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 701 of April 9.
