BREAKING NEWS: Travel and sporting disruption in region

WINTER: Icy blast.

WINTER: Icy blast.

HEAVY overnight snow has brought travel and sporting disruption to the region.

Robin Hood Airport is currently closed with teams working to clear the runways while bus services in Doncaster, across South Yorkshire and the Isle of Axholme are also being disrupted.

Many services are subject to alteration with bus firms providing regular updates through Twitter and their websites.

However, gritting teams and snow ploughs have been out clearing main routes with more snow expected across the course of the day.

This afternoon’s Lincoln meeting at Doncaster Racecourse was an early victim of the weather and Doncaster Rovers’ crucial derby fixture against Scunthorpe United is subject to a pitch inspection at noon.

The pitch has been cleared by volunteers, along with car parks and areas outside the Glanford Park stadium with referee Scott Mathieson due to make the final call.
