Breaking news: Rail disruption after train hits cow near Doncaster

A train has hit a cow on the line at Joan Croft near Doncaster this morning, causing expected delays until 3pm.

A Network Rail spokesman said the East Coast Rail train was “completely disabled” by the impact at 11am. There were no reported injuries.

There are delays of up to 60 minutes between Doncaster and York. These delays will continue until approximately 3pm.

Ticket restrictions have been lifted on East Coast services and passengers are advised to travel on the next available service.

Passengers may use CrossCountry, East Coast and First TransPennine Express services on any reasonable routes.

East Coast passengers travelling between London and Scotland are advised to use Virgin trains services between London Euston and Glasgow.
