The 42-year-old was quizzed by detectives over claims he held a woman hostage in a Rotherham house.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault and false imprisonment after an armed siege in Spalton Road, Parkgate, on Monday night, in which police officers surrounded a property and warned a man inside that if there were any attempts to endanger life they would open fire to protect others.

The incident was streamed live in Facebook and has been viewed and shared over 115,000 times.
