Human remains found at a Doncaster beauty spot have been identified as long-term missing person Alan Brown.
Mr Brown, aged 59 when he was last seen, went missing from his home in Westfield Road, Balby, on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
A passer-by found body parts on a railway embankment near to the Hexthorpe Junction in Balby on Sunday, March 29, at 12.45pm.
After more than two weeks of forensic tests, South Yorkshire Police have now confirmed the remains belong to Mr Brown.
A post-mortem examination to try and establish the cause of death was inconclusive and a file has been prepared for the coroner.
Mr Brown’s family have been informed.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage.
