Hundreds of Sheffield United supporters are set to say goodbye to one of the club’s most-loved supporters on Friday.
The funeral of David ‘Shred’ Spencer is to take place on Friday morning - with the cortege setting off from his spiritual home of Bramall Lane. Mr Spencer, who was from Intake and arranged coaches to away games for many years, died last month, leading to a massive outpouring of tributes to him.
His cortege will arrive in the Cherry Street car park at Bramall Lane at 10.30am, with space in front of the statues of Derek Dooley and Joe Shaw for those wishing to pay tribute to him. The cortege will stay at the ground for a short time and before the funeral takes place at City Road Cemetery at 11.15am.
A Sheffield United spokesman said: “David’s family are overwhelmed at the support of love shown by fellow Blades and the wider football family and have asked that those wishing to do so should make donations to the British Heart Foundation in memory of a much loved son, brother, friend and character.”
