Bradfield School equals best ever GCSE results

Pupils and staff had reason to celebrate in Bradfield as the school celebrated its equal best ever GCSE results.

Bradfield School, which is only in the second year of using its new building and facilities boasted a pass rate of 74 per cent A* to C GCSEs including English and Maths, equalling the school’s record.

Ian Gilbert, deputy head, said: “It’s fantastic. The students have worked amazingly hard. They always work hard, but the attainment is the best it’s ever been.

“The dedication of the staff and students - the staff here are so dedicated. I have been to schools in Manchester but I have never seen as many teachers at a results day as I have today.”

Tom Yarrow, aged 16, said: “I’ve got five As, five Bs and a C. I feel really happy and so positive.

“I’m staying on at Bradfield to do A-Levels in biology, chemistry, PE and geography.

“Bradfield is a really good school. I don’t think I would have got the grades I did if I didn’t come here.”

Marcus Dawson,16, from Oughtibridge, said: “I couldn’t sleep last night, but it was good to get it out of the way because I spent the time after the exams worried about how I was going to do.

“It’s a really good school and the teachers have helped me a lot.

Rory King, aged 16, said: “I’m quite happy with how I did. I found the exams quite hard but overall I’m happy with the results.

“I got two As, six Bs and a C. My As were in maths and geography.

“In sixth form I’m going to study biology, chemistry and PE. I’m hoping to do neurobiology or physiotherapy as a career.”
