Celebrities taking to the streets for the big event include John Altman - nasty Nick Cotton in EastEnders - and Sheffielder Richard McCourt of TV duo Dick and Dom.

Out of 5,000 people registered for the 10km race, 780 are supporting the Alzheimer's Society.

Sophie said: "I think often dementia is a hidden illness within families. It has such a hidden impact on their lives.

"I know myself from an aunt who had it what a huge impact it has. It is such an important cause for us to get behind."

Sophie swapped her usual belly dancing outfits for a shock absorber sports bra, on sale with a 10 per cent discount to women running for the Alzheimer's Society.
