A NINE-year-old boy suffered serious head and leg injuries after he was hit by a car as he ran into a road towards an ice cream van.
The child was struck by a Vauxhall Astra on Nethershire Lane, Shiregreen, when he ran into the road from behind a parked car - towards an ice cream van parked on the other side of the road.
Police said the youngster suffered serious head and leg injuries in the collision and was rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The accident happened just before 6pm yesterday and the boy was detained in hospital overnight.
