A YOUNG boy will need surgery for a serious hand injury after a freak accident on the Straight Mile at Intake, Doncaster.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the seven-year-old was injured when a 4x4 ‘barrel rolled’ on a grassed area near the racecourse.
The white Toyota Landcruiser was attempting a manoeuvre on land off Sandall Beat Road, 200 metres before the woods, on Tuesday at around 6.15pm when the driver lost control of the car causing it to roll over.
The boy, one of three children in the car, was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and detained for surgery. The driver, a 40-year-old man, and the other children, all from Intake, were uninjured.
Witnesses should call on 0114 220 2020 quoting incident 835 of March 29.
