Boy, aged nine, badly hurt in accident on bike in South Yorkshire

A SCHOOLBOY is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being knocked off his bike by a car in Rotherham.

The boy, from Kimberworth, was hurt on Richmond Park Avenue when he was hit by a black Peugeot 307 travelling in the direction of Meadowhall Road.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm yesterday, around 30 metres from the junction with Sopewell Road. The boy cycled out from the nearside kerb, colliding with the front of the Peugeot.

He suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, and was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The Peugeot driver, a 56-year-old man from Kimberworth, was not injured.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 949 of September 27.
