POLICE officers will be helping young people to get active with a fitness scheme based on boxing techniques.
The free Ozbox sessions are taking place at Bakewell Town Hall from next Wednesday, and are open to youngsters aged 11 to 19.
The sessions will be run by officers from the Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team in Derbyshire.
They will include a mixture of cardiovascular and strength activities, as well as circuit training and basic boxing skills in the ring.
Ozbox has been held in the Bakewell, Tideswell and Hope Valley areas over the last two years, and the new sessions have been able to go ahead after the Bakewell Town and Community Trust covered half the cost of room hire.
Young people wanting to take part should wear appropriate sports clothing and bring a bottle of water with them.
Parental consent forms, available from Bakewell police station, need to be completed on behalf of anyone under 16 who wants to take part.
The sessions will take place most Wednesdays between 7pm and 8.30pm at Bakewell Town Hall.
