BOXING enthusiasts who have raised a staggering £27,800 for three children’s charities by holding an annual fight show over the last five years have revealed they will be back in the ring for sixth show.

The event, organised by father-of-two John McCormack, of Hunters Bar, with help from Sheffield Boxing Centre, Hillsborough, has been held at the old Grosvenor Hotel, Charter Square, and most recently at Bramall Lane.

John, aged 56, who takes time out from his job as a management consultant to fight as a hobby and to keep fit, said: “We’ve achieved massive success over the last few years and a sixth show is very much on the cards, which we hope to hold towards the end of the year.”

The show involves John and other enthusiasts and youngsters who train at the gym, run by former pro Glyn Rhodes.

Proceeds so far have gone to children’s charities Ella’s Fund, the Ben O’Brien Fund and Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s neurocare appeal.
