NEW members are being sought by a bowling club in a Sheffield neighbourhood.
Beighton Welfare Bowling Club, based on the village’s High Street, is urging anyone young or old who wishes to give the sport a go to come forward.
Membership is free although there are fees to pay for use of the green.
The sport is particularly popular with pensioners and teenagers - although it has been hit by a council decision to reduce maintenance funding due to budget cuts.
Money to fund the costs of nine greens around the city at sites with two greens or more has been withdrawn, with clubs being asked to cover the costs themselves or lose the additional greens.
■ Anyone wishing to join the Beighton club should call Jill Roberts on 0114 2699802 or email email@example.com.
