POLICE officers will be swapping time on the beat for a 50-mile sponsored run to raise cash for charity.

Six South Yorkshire officers and a lecturer from Sheffield Hallam University have agreed to take part in the Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham International Trail on Saturday.

It starts and finishes at Dearne Valley College, taking runners around the Rotherham boundary.

Acting Detective Inspectors Nigel Taaffe and Steve Brookes, Inspector Nick Gaskell, Detective Sergeant Lee Berry and PCs Peter Hague and Helen Cutmore will be taking part in the run, joined by Hallam lecturer Charlotte Coleman, in aid of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
