WORK to revamp Sheffield’s highways is to start in two more areas over the coming months.
The Streets Ahead scheme to resurface roads and footpaths, and fit bright new street lights, will begin in the Grimesthorpe zone, which covers Grimesthorpe, Burngreave, Page Hall and Wincobank, from March for seven months.
Main roads Spital Hill, Ecclesfield Road and Page Hall Road will be included.
Work in the Tapton Hill zone, which includes Broomhill, Crookes and Crosspool, will start in April and last five months.
Coun Jack Scott, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “We are delighted to see the improvements moving into more areas.
“Work will include improving the condition of the roads, pavements and street lighting.”
Roadshows will take place for both zones giving details of which roads will be affected and how the work will be carried out.
The Tapton Hill roadshow will take place next Wednesday, February 13, at Wesley Hall, Crookes, between 1pm and 5.45pm. Two events are planned for Grimesthorpe zone next Thursday, February 14, at Pakistan Community Advice Centre, Page Hall Road, from noon to 2.30pm, and at St Thomas’s Church Hall, Newman Road, Wincobank, 3.30pm to 6pm.
