THE charity which supports Sheffield’s hospitals has donated £25,000 towards the city’s Transplant Games, to raise awareness of organ donations in the region.

The Sheffield Hospitals Charity, which helps the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Weston Park, Jessop Wing and Charles Clifford Dental Hospitals, has provided the funding to increase the number of people on the NHS organ donor register.

Charity director David Reynolds said: “The games is a fantastic event - every athlete who takes part has had a life-saving transplant and is now enjoying a new lease of life.”

The games happen in August. Visit www.britishtransplantgames.co.uk for details.
