Boost for pensioners
HUNDREDS of people in South Yorkshire could benefit from changes to the state pension in April.
The Department for Work and Pensions is lowering the qualifying criteria for a full pension.
Men are currently only able to claim if they have been working 44 years, while women must have worked 39 years.
If they had worked fewer years, they receive reduced payments.
But the Government is reducing the number of years required for a full pension to 30.
Visit www.direct.gov.uk/pensions or call 0800 6781132 to check your entitlement.
