HERE’S one woman who should never turn over a new leaf.

Helen Colley works on the JC Books stall at Castle Market in Sheffield.

And the 54-year-old got quite a surprise when one of her loyal customers Jane Heathcote, of Keppel Place, Shiregreen, nominated her for an outstanding customer care award.

That surprise turned to shock when the Lord Mayor Coun Alan Law turned up at the stall to hand her a trophy after she was named Sales Assistant of the Year.

Markets manager Andy Ward said: “We asked shoppers for nominations to find a brilliant sales assistant who goes above and beyond the call of duty.

“Helen really does prove that a friendly smile, a cheery hello, and a positive approach to retailing create winning ways.”

Helen said: “It costs nothing to be polite, friendly and kind, so I’m very moved to have received the award. I feel very proud to have been chosen, particularly by our very own bunch of bookworms!
