IT must have felt like Christmas for Sheffield footie fans because both Wednesday and United managed to win on Tuesday. It was a vital win for Gary Megson and maybe…just maybe…Wednesday can resurrect their playoff challenge.
One glance at the table and it does seem unlikely, but the Owls do have games in hand so Megson will be galvanising the troops for one last push. On Saturday against Notts County at home they are 11/10 shots. After Plymouth last week it’s probably hard to put your cash on them with any confidence but I reckon they will win this well. The Owls do have to travel to Brighton and Southampton, but barring these two matches, their remaining fixtures look pretty decent.
We are best priced at 33/1 about them getting promoted, and 7/1 to make the playoffs. The next few matches will make or break their season. That 33/1 might look big in a couple of weeks time.
It’s taken a long time but Micky Adams finally got a win under his belt. The fact it came against Nottingham Forest suggests the Blades are turning things around. They are still deep in the mire though and remain 1/6 to get relegated. That translates to 7/2 to stay up, so there is no excuse Blades fans…if you think they are going to stay up then get on. The problem is that they have to play Leeds, QPR, Cardiff, Reading and Swansea.
Donny and Barnsley look interesting betting propositions this weekend. Both are away to playoff contenders – Donny travel to Forest and the Tykes to Cardiff. Both are a standout price of 5/1 with us. Finally another cracking bet is Chesterfield to win at Crewe. At around 13/8 this looks a knocking bet.
