A bomb disposal squad was called to a Sheffield street after a resident found a suspicious object.
The Army team was sent to Blackburn Road, Wincobank, when a man discovered an old bullet casing while gardening.
South Yorkshire Police officers arrived on Saturday, at about 12.35pm. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended later in the afternoon.
A police spokesman said the squad was called ‘just to be on the safe side’.
He said: “They believe it was just a bullet shell. They took it away by hand and there was no controlled explosion. There was no danger to the public.”
