Comedian Bobby Ball, of the famed duo Cannon and Ball, will be performing at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Beighton tonight, sharing his testimony through his trademark Northern humour.
The born-again Christian, who lives just south of Blackpool with his second wife Yvonne, carves out four months of his schedule every year to tour churches around the country.
Following the success of The Cannon and Ball Show which aired in 1979, Bobby admitted to drinking heavily, womanising, and starting fights. He converted to Christianity in 1986, a decision that came after a candid conversation with a theatre chaplain in Bradford led him to break down in tears.
Despite gaining widespread success and living the high life, Bobby and his partner Thomas barely acknowledged each other when they were not performing.
After Bobby converted, the two rekindled their relationship and Thomas followed suit in 1992.
The two met in a factory in Oldham and got their start singing in local clubs.
In 2005, Cannon and Ball participated in I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Bobby now plays Barry in the Sky One series Mount Pleasant while Thomas runs an organic produce company through his farm outside York.
The event will take place at 7pm. Tickets to the event are £6 each, or £10 for two.
