THEY are bobbies on the beat... with a difference.

A group of officers from South Yorkshire Police swapped their day jobs to become street dancers for a TV show to be screened tomorrow.

They answered an advert from Diversity frontman Ashley Banjo looking for groups from everyday life to form ‘secret street crews’ and to be taught how to dance.

The officers, who all work in public protection, had three weeks to learn a dance routine without telling any family or friends – before surprising them with a performance.

Helen Smith, 42, said: “Training was fun, the performance was terrifying.”

Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew airs on Sky 1 at 8pm tomorrow.
