A SHEFFIELD church has been treated to a £37,600 facelift.
Parishioners attending services at St Mark’s Pentecostal Church, Dykes Lane, Malin Bridge, saw for themselves how it has been improved - and former Home Secretary David Blunkett, Labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, was called in to conduct the official reopening.
Work has been paid for with a grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust. The church’s transformation began in July 2010 and has taken 18 months.
A new room has been created at the rear to provide a community venue which is already being enjoyed by local groups including after-school clubs.
Pastor Patricia Hallam said: “We wish to thank all that have given.”
Mr Blunkett said: “I commend the church for getting so much out of the grant.”
