Meadowhall shopping centre has asked its parking contractor to cancel a fine issued to a Sheffield woman after a misunderstanding over a blue disabled parking badge.
Sue Lambert, from Deepcar, had taken her poorly sister-in-law Marilyn Lambert for a day out.
Sue said: “My sister-in-law’s blue badge had run out at the end of May but she had been told by Sheffield Council to keep using it because there was a delay issuing new ones due to a backlog.
“When we came back to the car at Meadowhall, we had a parking ticket on the windscreen for £95, reduced to £57 if we paid in 14 days.
“I wrote a letter to Parking Control Management Ltd which issued the fine but received a reply to say they had rejected my appeal.
“It was the first time my sister-in-law had been to Meadowhall in the past five years due to her condition.”
A Meadowhall spokeswoman said: “Given the circumstances of this case and the current backlog at Sheffield Council, Meadowhall has requested that this fine is cancelled.”
