A SOUTH Yorkshire council’s efforts to help disabled people have been nominated for a national honour.

Rotherham Council has been put forward for an award by charity Disabled Motoring UK.

The council has been nominated for the Effective Enforcement Award for its efforts to tackle blue badge fraud - the charity said many councils carry out no enforcement of the rules at all.

Martin Beard, Rotherham Council’s parking services manager, said “I am very proud of this nomination.”
