A MAN who used his daughter’s blue badge to park in a disabled bay while she was at school has been fined by magistrates.
Joao Carlos, aged 36, of Nunnery Crescent, Brinsworth, Rotherham, pleaded guilty to the offence in a letter to Rotherham Magistrates Court.
He admitted using his daughter’s disabled blue badge in June to park in a designated disabled bay on Howard Street. The court was told his daughter was in school at the time.
Carlos was fined £60 and ordered to pay £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Rotherham Borough Council’s parking services manager, Martin Beard, said: “This is the 21st successful prosecution the council has achieved for blue badge fraud. This demonstrates our commitment to stamping out this crime, which causes significant disadvantage to people with genuine needs.”
