Blockage in toilets plan

difficulties over the lease have persuaded town councillors at Tickhill not to take over the disused public toilets in Castlegate.

The toilets behind the library were closed several years ago by Doncaster Council as a cost-saving measure.

Neighbourhood staff have advised town councillors that it is only prepared to lease the toilets for a period of six years.

The condition of the area surrounding the toilet block and lack of maintenance, compounded with the uncertainty of what-belonged-to-who, has led town councillors to come to the conclusion that the toilets are a liability and not an asset to the town.

The Neighbourhood Team says it will place a sign indicating that members of the public can use the library toilets when it is open.
