BLADES boss Danny Wilson dropped in on a charity close to the club’s heart when he paid a visit to United’s near neighbours at the St Wilfrid’s Centre in Queens Road.

The United manager was accompanied by club chairman Chris Steer and managing director Dave McCarthy on a guided tour of the centre which was hosted by its director and lifelong Blade Kevin Bradley.

St Wilfrid’s is a charity which supports the homeless, the vulnerable and the socially excluded.

The centre helps people from different cultures and backgrounds to overcome problems in life and come back as better individuals.

St Wilfrid’s achieved national recognition when it featured on Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire where it was given a massive cash boost by Simrin Choudhrie, who posed as a volunteer at the centre and then surprised them by donating £100,000.

The Blades trio toured the workshops and watched as residents produced the famous football clocks that have been a trademark of the centre for a number of years.

Kevin then presented one of the clocks as a memento to Danny.
