BLACK bin and recycling collections in Sheffield will operate as normal every day next week - despite the New Year Bank Holiday Monday.
As New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the following day - Monday, January 2 - will also be a public holiday. But Sheffield Council’s contractor, Veolia, said it will not affect services.
The company said a normal service will operate on all days and to all areas next week.
Households which had collections missed due to the bank holidays on Boxing Day and Tuesday this week are advised to bag up any extra rubbish accumulated and put it alongside their black bins for collection next week on the normal due day.
Sheffield’s household waste recycling centres are open to the public as normal.
An indefinite strike by workers over job and hours cuts which was due to begin on Tuesday has been called off after planned changes were postponed pending further negotiations.
