A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed after a collision with a car which closed a main road in Sheffield.

The smash happened on the A6102 Prince of Wales Road at about 6am today.

It caused delays for runners heading to the Sheffield Half Marathon as traffic was diverted away from the scene.

A police spokeswoman said: “The collision happened near the junction with Queen Mary Road, Manor, close to St Theresa’s Roman Catholic Primary School.

“The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries.”

The identity of the biker has not yet been revealed and police investigations into the incident are continuing.
